The Lord's Prayer

Jesus said, "After this manner therefore pray ye:

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen." --Matthew 6:9-13 KJV

"And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it." -John 14:13-14 KJV

Chapter 6 in Matthew gives additional information on prayer such as praying in private rather than praying in public, using vain repetitions in an effort to impress others.

In the book of James we are told to pray and ask for wisdom rather than worldly things. Don't be surprised if prayers for worldly things go unanswered:

"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted: But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away." -James 1:5-10 KJV

In Mark 11:24-25 KJV, Jesus says ask and you shall receive whatsoever you desire IF you believe AND IF you "forgive, if ye have ought against any". Two very important and sometimes overlooked conditions of believing and not having anything hateful, such as a grudge or desire for revenge, in our hearts against anyone.
